Sildar Hallwinter was only 5 years old when he fled Neverwinter with his aunt and uncle, during the eruption of Mount Hotenow. They returned to Neverwinter as one of the first waves of settlers in 1461 DR when Sildar was 15. Two years later, the Netherese occupied the city; the young Sildar lied about his age in order to join the resistance. Even though he saw little active participation young Sildar gained the reputation among resistance members as a kind of mascot. Sildar joined the Neverwinter guard when he came of age, but within several years struck out on his own. He found work as a member of the The Lords’ Alliance, recently establishing a presence in the rebuilt Neverwinter; he has applied himself to their cause ever since.
Sildar was sent to by the The Lords’ Alliance, to investigate the loss of contact with the human wizard Iarno Albrek, who was sent by the The Lords’ Alliance to the town of Phandalin two months prior, to help law and order gain a foothold.
Sildar agreed to travel with Gundren Rockseeker, who was also heading to Phandalin and offer protection on the road. However, the two were ambushed by Cragmaw goblins, and Sildar was taken prisoner in a nearby cave, on 1489DR, Tarsakh 17th.
He continued his travels to Phandalin with his rescuers. After arriving, he set himself up at the Townmaster’s Hall, acting as an interim constable representing The Lords’ Alliance. He asked a party of adventurers to “quietly” deal with the Redbrands, and find out what happened to the wizard Iarno Albrek, sent only a few months piror by The Lords’ Alliance.
After the Redbrands and their leader Glasstaff were removed from Phandalin, he asked a Portabia, Cal Talmost, and Moran, to travel to Thundertree and make contact with Reidoth to see if he could help locate Cragmaw Castle and find Gundren Rockseeker and his map. He also asked the group to investigate recent rumors of cultists and a dragon in or around Thundertree.
On Tarsakh 26th Sildar instigated a snap-election, to replace the townmaster Harbin Wester with Daran Edermath. The town quickly got behind Sildar, and the votes were overwhelmingly in favor of Daran. He also took over the responsibility for a town militia to replace the Redbrands, setting up at the old Tresendar Manor.
