Wave Echo Cave
Located somewhere in the Sword Mountains, near the ancient farming village of Phandalin, are the mining caverns known as Wave Echo Cave. In addition to its mineral wealth, the mine contained great magical power. Human spellcasters allied themselves with various dwarf and gnome clans under the Phandelver’s Pact to control the mine, and channel and bind the magical energy into a great forge, where magic items could be crafted.
When orcs swept through the North in 951DR, they attacked Wave Echo Cave in an attempt to seize its riches and magic treasures — but the ensuing spell battle destroyed much of the cavern. Few survived the cave-ins and tremors, and the location of Wave Echo Cave was lost.
For centuries, rumors of buried riches have attracted treasure seekers and opportunists to the area around Phandalin, but no one has ever succeeded in locating the lost mine. However, Gundren Rockseeker and his two brothers, seem to have discovered the entrance to Wave Echo Cave, and they intend to reopen the mines.
The Lords’ Alliance has taken particular interest in the Rockseeker brothers project, and the nearby mining town of Phandalin. They dispatched Iarno Albrek and then Sildar Hallwinter to ensure the mines are found, and that stability and security is brought to the nearby mining town of Phandalin and the surrounding area.
